How to Buy Our Vintage Motorcycles

Purchasing a vintage motorcycle from The Vintage Motorcycles is a straightforward process designed for collectors and enthusiasts in Vietnam and around the world. From selecting a motorcycle and reviewing its history and condition to payment, preparation, export documentation, international shipping, delivery, and after-sale support, we guide each purchase through the necessary stages.

Our vintage motorcycles are sourced through long-standing relationships with private collectors, family holdings, historic workshops, and motorcycle owners throughout Vietnam. Many of these motorcycles were originally manufactured in Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other countries before being brought to Vietnam during earlier historical periods.

Because every vintage motorcycle has its own history, condition, provenance, and restoration requirements, the historical records and supporting evidence available for each motorcycle may vary. We provide the available information for each motorcycle so that collectors can carefully review the machine and its history before completing a purchase. Separately, every motorcycle exported from Vietnam is accompanied by the applicable legal export documentation prepared through the relevant Vietnamese authorities.

For international purchases, we also handle the preparation and export process in Vietnam, including the applicable legal export documentation, shipping arrangements, and delivery documentation required for the selected shipment.

Choose Your Vintage Motorcycle

Start with a motorcycle that matches your collection, interests, and intended use.

Begin by exploring our current vintage motorcycle inventory. Our collection includes motorcycles from different manufacturers, eras, and categories, including pre-war, military, and post-war machines. Each motorcycle is presented with the information available to us regarding its identity, specifications, condition, history, and restoration status.

If you are searching for a particular make, model, year, or type of motorcycle and do not see it currently listed, you are welcome to contact us. Through our long-standing relationships with collectors, family owners, historic workshops, and motorcycle enthusiasts throughout Vietnam, we may be able to locate a suitable motorcycle through our network.

Browse the Inventory

Review the motorcycles currently available and compare their make, model, year, configuration, condition, and historical background.

Looking for Something Specific?

Tell us the manufacturer, model, approximate year, or type of motorcycle you are looking for. We can check our network in Vietnam for suitable machines.

Consider the History

For vintage motorcycles, historical identity and provenance can be as important as mechanical condition. Review the available history before deciding which motorcycle is right for you.

Important: Availability changes as motorcycles are sold, acquired, restored, or prepared for export. If a particular motorcycle interests you, we recommend contacting us for its current status before making arrangements.
02

Review the Motorcycle

Examine the motorcycle's identity, condition, history, and available documentation before making a purchase decision.

Once you have selected a motorcycle that interests you, we encourage you to review as much information as possible before proceeding with the purchase. Vintage motorcycles can differ significantly in their originality, mechanical condition, restoration history, and surviving documentation, so each motorcycle should be evaluated on its own merits.

We can provide additional photographs, specifications, and other available information upon request. Where available, this may include frame and engine numbers, historical records, previous ownership information, restoration details, and photographs showing important mechanical and identifying features.

01

Identity & Specifications

Review the manufacturer, model, approximate production year, frame or chassis identification, engine number, configuration, and other identifying details available for the motorcycle.

02

Condition & Restoration

Ask about the motorcycle's current mechanical and cosmetic condition, previous restoration work, replaced components, rebuilt systems, and any known areas requiring further attention.

03

History & Provenance

Review the historical information available for the motorcycle, including ownership history, family records, photographs, workshop records, or other evidence that may help establish its provenance.

04

International Shipping

For international collectors, we can provide information about shipping the motorcycle from Vietnam to its destination, including available transport options, preparation requirements, estimated costs, and other logistics involved in international delivery.

Reviewing a vintage motorcycle: Every motorcycle should be considered on its own merits, based on the information available at the time of purchase. We aim to provide clear information about the motorcycle's identity and specifications, current condition and restoration history, available historical and ownership records, and the practical considerations involved in international shipping. Where information is documented, we distinguish it from details that remain uncertain or unavailable rather than filling gaps with assumptions.
03

Confirm the Motorcycle and Purchase Terms

Once you are satisfied with the motorcycle, confirm the exact machine and the terms of the purchase.

After reviewing the motorcycle and the information available, the next step is to confirm that the motorcycle is the one you wish to purchase. Before payment is arranged, we confirm the specific motorcycle, agreed purchase price, current condition, and any other details relevant to the transaction.

For motorcycles that require additional restoration, mechanical work, or preparation before shipment, the scope of the work can be discussed and confirmed before the purchase proceeds. Any agreed arrangements concerning restoration, included components, accessories, or other work should be clearly understood by both parties before payment is made.

05

Motorcycle Preparation

The motorcycle is prepared according to its agreed condition, restoration requirements, and export arrangements.

After the purchase and payment arrangements have been confirmed, we proceed with the preparation of the motorcycle. The exact work depends on the individual machine and the condition and restoration scope agreed with the buyer.

Preparation may include mechanical servicing, restoration work, inspection, cleaning, documentation, and other work required to prepare the motorcycle for shipment. Where restoration or mechanical work has been specifically agreed as part of the purchase, the work is carried out before the motorcycle proceeds to the export stage.

01

Mechanical Preparation

Where applicable, agreed mechanical servicing or restoration work is completed to prepare the motorcycle for the next stage of the process.

02

Restoration Work

If restoration work has been included in the purchase arrangements, the motorcycle is prepared according to the agreed scope rather than applying the same restoration standard to every machine.

03

Final Inspection

The motorcycle is reviewed before export to confirm its condition and preparation status and to identify any outstanding matters that need to be addressed.

04

Documentation

Available motorcycle information and the documentation required for the purchase and export process are prepared according to the individual motorcycle and destination requirements.

Each motorcycle we export is accompanied by the applicable legal documentation issued and processed through the relevant Vietnamese authorities. Historical information concerning provenance, ownership, registration, restoration, and previous records is provided separately and reflects the individual history of each motorcycle.
06

Export Documentation & Shipping Preparation

Once the motorcycle is ready, we arrange the documentation, export preparation, and shipping method for its journey from Vietnam.

When the motorcycle has completed the agreed preparation, we move to the export and shipping stage. The motorcycle is prepared for international transport from Vietnam together with the available documentation and the arrangements required for its shipment.

At this stage, you can choose the shipping method that best suits your preferred transit time and budget. We offer both sea freight and air freight for international motorcycle shipments, with estimated transit times of approximately 32 days by sea and approximately 4 days by air.

Important for Air Freight Buyers

Because international payment methods can take several working days for funds to arrive, buyers choosing air freight should consider making the 100% payment in advance if they need the fastest possible document and delivery process.

With the 80% + 20% arrangement, the final payment must be sent after the Bill of Lading is emailed, and the funds may take several working days to arrive. The shipping documents may then also require time to reach you by DHL. For an air freight shipment with a short transit time, these additional payment and document-delivery periods can reduce the time available for you to complete destination procedures and arrange receipt of the motorcycle.

Our recommendation: For air freight, we recommend choosing full payment in advance when possible, particularly when you need to complete customs, import, or receiving procedures quickly after the motorcycle arrives.

What You Receive

01 Shipping Information

02 Shipping Documents

03 Bill of Lading

For sea freight, the Bill of Lading is provided when issued and available for the shipment.

Timing matters: International payment transfers, shipping-document preparation, DHL delivery, customs clearance, and destination procedures can each require additional time. We recommend allowing sufficient time for these steps when planning the arrival and collection of your motorcycle.
08

Receive Your Motorcycle

The final stage of the journey from Vietnam to your destination.

The final delivery stage depends on the import and customs procedures applicable in the destination country. The buyer is responsible for destination-country duties, taxes, registration, inspection, and other local requirements unless otherwise agreed.

When your motorcycle arrives at its destination, the next stage is to complete the applicable customs, import, and local delivery procedures. Once the motorcycle is released for delivery or collection, we recommend carefully inspecting it before completing the receiving process.

01

Inspect the Motorcycle

Carefully check the motorcycle upon arrival, including the packaging, bodywork, components, and other visible areas for any signs of damage or irregularities that may have occurred during transportation.

02

Photograph Any Damage

If you notice any damage or other issues, take clear photographs and videos immediately. Detailed visual evidence can be important when reporting transportation-related damage.
